WCI Regional Emissions Database Options White Paper Available for Comment 8/6-9/4 PDF Print E-mail

The Western Climate Initiative (WCI) Partner jurisdictions have released a “WCI Regional Emissions Database Options White Paper.” The Regional Emissions Database (RED) will consist of a system of database components developed by The Climate Registry (The Registry) for collecting, transferring, storing and analyzing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data from facilities and entities in WCI states and provinces.

The white paper explores numerous options for managing data and designing database functions, including options for achieving the maximum possible level of consistency and integration with federal GHG reporting programs. After considering public comment on the white paper, the WCI will provide The Registry with guidance and direction on how it should proceed in defining detailed specifications and requirements for the RED.

The WCI solicits stakeholder feedback on all of the options presented in the white paper. Written comments will be accepted until September 4, 2009.  Stakeholders may also provide comment during a conference call on August 14, 2009 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Pacific time, during which this white paper will be presented and discussed.  To join this call, dial 1-800-868-1837 toll free in the U.S. and Canada (1-404-920-6440 for outside the U.S. and Canada), participant code 659537#.
